Christmas Stocking Ornament
Experience Level = Easy - Intermediate
Materials:
Medium weight (4) yarn; worsted
Size H-8 crochet hook
¼ in organza ribbon for bow accents (OPT.)
Stitch markers (OPT.)
Instructions:
Ch 4 and sl st to create ring; worked in rnd(s)
Rnd 1 - ch 1 then sc 2 into each ch sp including ch 1; total of 10 sc;
Rnd 2 - 1 sc into next st; then 1 hdc into the same ch sp; In the next st 1 dc then dc 2 into the next st - this is the start of the Increase Pattern *(dc 1, 2 dc into same st)*;
Repeat (*) across the rest of the rnd;
Rnd 3 - Repeat new increase pattern (2 dc, dc 2) across this rnd;
Rnd 4-6 - dc strait (w/o increase or decrease); then, at last 3 sts before end of rnd 6, 1 hdc, 1 sc, and 1 sl st to level off;
Rnd 7 & 8 - shape the heel:
**ch 1 and turn; skip next st and 1 sc into next st; 1 hdc then dc 6; 1 hdc and 1 sc**;
Repeat (**) once, substituting 4 dc instead of 6;Rnd 9- ch 1 then 1 sc into next st and 1 sc into next ch sp; 1 dc into next st and then dc 4; increase 1 dc in next st (the foot); dc 5 and then sc 1 into next ch sp and 1 into next st; dc 2 then decrease 1 dc into next st (the heel);
Rnd 10 - dc strait until first increase; increase 1 dc at foot; dc strait across second half of rnd and decrease 1 dc at heel;
Rnd 11-13 - dc strait; at last 2 sts of rnd 13, 1 hdc and 1 sc to level off pattern;
Rnd 14 - add inclined row at back of stocking:
9 sc then sl st into next st, then ch 1 and turn; skip next st and then sc 1; hdc 15; 1 sc, and then sl st into next st;Rnd 15 - switch yarn for two-toned look (white is traditional but any color of your choice is also fine); ch 1 and turn, then 1sc across rnd; sl st to complete rnd;
Rnd 16 - ch 2 then dc 2, and 1 dc across rnd (use the outer-rim of sts); sl st to secure rnd;
Rnd 17 - using dc, ***Post 1 x 1 pattern*** across
Rnd 18-20 - Repeat Post (***); sl st rnd close, and then clip and tuck yarn into the stitches
Fold the trim down over the stocking, and then insert the hook into the center-back. Ch 12 in the back of the stocking to hang. Cut and secure then hang on the tree!
